Grime Scene Investigation

The link address is: http://www.observhill-e.schools.nsw.edu.au/index.htm

Description: This website was designed by the observatory hill environmental education centre and is intended to be used in conjunction with a visit to an estuary. The students form groups of four and take on the role of a scientist (biologist, ecologist, water quality chemist, or environmental scientist). Each role has a different area of research to follow. There is a worksheet to guide the research. The students then have to come together and share their research with the other members of the group. They then visit an estuary and carry out some practical experiments such as water quality testing, plankton surveys, fish dissections and collecting biotic data. They then return to school, and using the data they have collected (including photographs), produce a presentation as the final product.
