Unit of Work - This is a 10 week course encouraging students to research, design and evaluate a sustainable landscape. The focus for this unit of work is the redesign of an under utilised area of the school to allow for passive recreation and an outdoor learning area. The unit is suitable for students with a range of abilities and can easily be adapted to suit other localities.

Description: Developed as part of the Lessons from Teachers project, this case study focuses on a Design & Technology Stage 6 (preliminary) unit of work developed by David Innes from Monaro High School. Lessons from Teachers case studies include a unit of work and a teacher narrative, where experienced teachers share their reflections on teaching their particular sustainability education unit. These teachers discuss how sustainability issues can be integrated into their subject area, the way they approach teaching the unit and the highlights and challenges they have encountered.
