A sustainable school for the future

Get smarter, live longer
Some sustainable superheroes have been at work at the Mt Gravatt High School in Queensland. Students from years 8-12 participate in a range of environmental projects, including revegetation, water and waste management, to enhance their 'sustainable skills'.
Striving for sustainability
Incorporating Earth Charter principles into their curriculum, the Wondai State School (Qld) has developed action plans to address issues relating to water, energy and waste management. Their whole of school education approach involved programs for teachers, primary and secondary students.
Sustainability initiatives across the curriculum
Sevenoaks Senior College (WA) seeks to ensure a balance between economic, social, environmental and political sustainability. This includes many unique programs such as work experience at Santa's workshop (recycling toys facility), a young mothers program, earth works initiatives and their student representative council.
Sustainable living in Joondalup
Students at Kinross College (WA) were lucky enough to get up close and personal with some unique local wildlife. Through a whole of school program, students were involved in research and hands on activities addressing sustainability issues relating to air, water, waste, energy and endangered animals.
Towards a sustainable school
Through their very busy 'Sustainability Group', Wellington Point State School is enhancing its own environmental sustainability. The group has initiated a wide range of school and community environment projects including a monitoring program, energy conservation strategies, revegetation, composting, vegetable gardens and ongoing awareness programs.
