In 2003 UNSW signed a
historic agreement with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)
to develop ideas and opportunities to progress sustainable development
in our region. A key part of this agreement was focusing on the role
education can play in fostering sustainable living.
Tunza is a Kishwahili word that means "to treat with care and affection" and the TUNZA strategy recognises the importance of engaging young people so they are in a position to take action and lead their communities through change.TUNZA is the UNEPs capacity building strategy for young people and facilitates the development of resources by young people for young people.
