Towards Sustainable Communities
Towards Sustainable Communities is part of the 'Local Government Working with Schools' project coordinated by the NSW Local Government and Shires Association and the Department of Environment and Conservation (NSW).
Developed originally by the Local Government and Shires Association of NSW, in conjunction with the team at the Sustainable Living Challenge, Towards Sustainable Communities is an initiative of the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (2005-2014).
The website is a space to link, learn and share. Councils, young people and their teachers will find resources and information on how to work together on projects that will have a positive impact on the environmental, social, cultural and economic issues that face us all.
Specifically, the website will enable you to:
- LINK - access a comprehensive list of weblinks across the breadth of sustainability issues, organised by scale from NSW through to international
- LEARN - explore different ways to approach collaboration between schools and councils as well as project ideas for teachers to develop activities that engage students in sustainability issues
- SHARE - reflect on the amazing work already happening between councils and schools around NSW and share the outcomes and sucesses of your collaboration.
